You have seen alot on my blog about my hair stylist, Kim Cornwell. Well, She moved into her own salon space with a couple of friends and needed a new business card and gift certificate. WOOHOOO for me! Kim is a little adult version of a punk kid and I LOVE IT! haah. IT’S AWESOME! Her style is RAD and I was so excited that she asked me to do something funky that stands out.
Remember that Valentine free desk top background? That came from working on this project with Kim. Although she is a hairstylist she does not like to have hair, scissors, or anything cheesy that represents what she does. Instead, I decided to use subtle hints of what she does in the design. I snuck a pair of scissors in at the perforated edge to instruct the user to tear it off. I also used an abstract vintage photo of a woman with her head turned away hinting that HAIR is a focus.
All of Kim’s clients refer their friends to her, so we came up with a card that HELPS her clients do that even better. Its like 3 cards in one. The cards are folded accordion style and are perforated so they can be torn off and given to others. Sound cool? We packaged them in my favorite clear bags for an ever so chic and readable look.

Above is the color combination for this project. I chose a dark red and also incorporated a dark orange color. The card itself is a very light gray. Her gift certificate is black, gray, white, and is simple/straight to the point with a fun dynamic shape that goes with the theme. I am really in love with this final look. I feel that it is modern, fresh, dynamic, and practical with a funky flair.
I always love sharing my projects with you guys. Being able to present to you something that I have been working on is like a second paycheck in some ways. It’s really rewarding to have been working for a while on something and then get to see it printed, photographed, and presented. It makes a project feel completed. SO, thanks in many ways for being a part of my completion process. I really love and appreciate your thoughts. And thanks for being a great critiquing sounding board for me.

I love the subtle hints of her profession! What a great way to use her client’s promotion by word of mouth by using a trifold businesscard. And another random note: I love that the cards ask to text appointments! That’s how I get a hold of my stylist as well!

WOW! I love it! RAD & FUNKY ORIGINAL & NOW!, are some good words for the design. I’m a hair designer & don’t like the cheesy looks that some use either. if I was using those cards & certificates I’d be so proud to hand those out & efficient. Love the 3-in-1, color palette, heart, I guess you could say I love it ALL! GR8 job!
