PLEASE PRAY FOR KATE!! The McRae’s are dear friends of Brian and I. I had the privilege of taking their family photos a few months back. They are a wonderful family. They just got news two days ago that their baby 5 year old girl has a large brain tumor. kate is a BRIGHT SOUL!! I was just at the pool a few days ago playing with her in the water and basking in the sun with Holly and their two other children. She was splashing and playing. The happiest little girl you have ever seen. She kept inviting me to come home with them and play with her after dinner!
Holly and Aaron had been noticing through the last few months that Kate was not herself. They had taken her in to the doctors and nothing was found. They took her in again on Monday, did some tests and found that Kate has a brain tumor on the left side of her brain. Brian and I spent some time with Kate and the family in the PICU last night. She is as beautiful as ever, that sweet girl. Her movements and motor skills were a little weak on the right side of her body.
Here is what kate’s mom says about her updates:
“The good news is nothing has spread to her spine. The bad news is the location of the tumor. They think it has been a slower growing tumor, however in it’s growth it has wrapped itself around the major blood vessels that feed the brain. So the tumor is not completely operable. This was devastating. The surgeon said to attempt to remove the entire tumor (about the size of an egg) would be far to risky. She would have an extremely high risk of paralysis or a stroke. So this Friday they will be performing brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as they feel is safe. They will then biopsy some of the tumor to determine what they are even dealing with. The surgeon believes it is malignant, but not all of it. After they have a diffinitive diagnosis, early next week, they will set a further treatment plan. This could include more brain surgery, chemo and radiation. Overwhelming, in all aspects.
Today Kate will be getting a PET scan, so please pray that it will be telling. Second, please pray for Dr DeMoss. He is Kate’s neurosurgeon, and supposedly one of the best in the country.. Please cover him in prayer, for wisdom, guidance, direction, and a steady hand. Please pray for Kate for peace, calm and a fighting spirit as this is just the beginning of a very long road. Pray that the tumor will have even more clear margins than appeared on the MRI. Pray that they will be able to remove most of the tumor, if not miraculously all of it. Pray that nothing, absolutely nothing else will be touched and that there will be no negative side effects from the surgery. Pray that whatever the course of treatment, she will end up tumor and cancer free! Pray that God will choose to miraculously intervene for Kate. Pray for Olivia and Will that we will be sensitive to their needs and be able to process it correctly with them. Please just cover her in your prayers”.

The doctors and the nurses have been amazing. There is a special crew coming in on Friday just to do Kate’s surgery. Friday is the doctor’s day off and it is also his birthday. I believe that God is getting ready to set up a miracle. Please pray a bold brave prayer that they will NOT find the tumor today when they do the pet scan.
I have been asked to do a little photoshoot with Kate tomorrow afternoon. It will be a blast!! Please leave a prayer or an encouraging note for the family in the comment section. They read the comments and prayers to each other and they need us to hold them up right now! They are weak. But God is strong.
Please forward this post Or forward the following links: Kate’s update page, Aaron’s twitter, more of their family photos that i took

July 1st, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Our God is a God of the impossible.
Praying for her, her family, friends and the doctors, too. Thanks for posting this.
July 1st, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Matthew 9:22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.”
I will pray bold prayers of rescue because more and more, I believe God is not invisible when we come alive. He is still in the business of inexplicable healing, I truly think. And faith is that we actually believe these things… “Take heart…your faith has healed you.” I choose to believe that God makes things new, that He meant hope and healing in the beauty of your little girl. I will tie my heart to yours and pray radically.
love.

I heard about this from Brianna Phelan. Our family has been down this road and I know all the stuff, the feelings, the hopes, the fears… all of it. It’s just ugh. Overwhelming.
I pray in agreement with everything her mom asked for, in Jesus’ name! Please let us know how everything goes.

Kate, We love you and know that you are being held safely in Christ’s arms. He loves you MORE than any of us ever could and will be there during the procedure on Friday.
Holly, You are a wonderful, strong, faithful mother. We are praying for you and Aaron to be given wisdom, strength and peace. Love to Olivia and Will.
Wish we were there to hug you all.

We had the fortunate chance to go to a Healing Service at the Rock Church in San Bernardino. The pastor was not a healer, but called on scripture as a form of using Jesus to heal our bodies. What I learned and have been praying for our family and will be praying for KATE is this:
What the Dr. found in her diagnosis is true, but God’s Word is truth, and Jesus is the ultimate healer. By his stripes we have been healed. Lord thank you for your pain on the Cross, and take away Kate’s. Be the ultimate healer in her life right now.
July 1st, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Promise!
Bring smiles to this little girl.
To Kate, remember that you are in God’s hands and that He has complete control over all things.
And to the McRae family, stay strong and you have many prayers coming your way.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Beautiful post Prom. Kate is such a gem and this family is so amazing. These are the kind of people that care for the less fortunate, that serve with unyielding passion. This is a family that knows how to live in the Kingdom of God. My prayer is that they will continue to live big for the Kingdom in these days and that Kate would be a miracle in their life story.
I’m believing for a physical healing for Kate! Please God!

While I obviously don’t know what God’s plan might be, it just breaks my heart that such a sweet, beautiful little girl would have to go through this. I could not even imagine if this were my own child!
With a personality like this and eyes like that, my guess is that there are a lot of people completely wrapped around her little finger!
I’m anxious to hear the results of the surgery and pray that it is God’s will that she make a wonderful recovery.
Grace, love and peace.

hello Mcrae family. I just wanted to tell you that my husband was diagnosed about two months ago with a brain tumor. They did find it to be malignant. They removed all that they could see and he is now undergoing chemo and radiation. We are going to be praying SO hard for your daughter. We pray every night at 8:00 for healing for my husband and several others who are fighting this battle in our community. We will add kate to that list. We also want you to know that by Jesus’ stripes, your daughter is healed. That is what God’s word says. If you have a chance, there is a book by Dodie Osteen that you should get. It is full of healing scriptures. It is a small book that i can’t think of the name of right now. If you look her up, you will find it. Please know that Jesus’ stripes on his back are for Kate’s healing! Let us know if we can help you in any way!!! love, janet potsick
July 3rd, 2009 at 6:35 pm
I write to encourage you for a miracle. God’s Word is truth. He says, “The Power of life and death is in the tongue.” My husband and I prayed for a 3 year old girl who was being treated at Boston Children’s Hospital for an INOPERABLE BRAIN TUMOR (intertwined with the blood vessels). We prayed over this child daily anointing her with oil ((The anointing oil breaks the bands of Satan) and cursing every corpuscle of the diseased tissue and commanding her body NOT to give the tumor nourishment or sustinence in the Holy Name of Jesus, asking God that it would shrivel up and die. The tumor shrank from the size of a half dollar to the size of a tiny pea. The doctors said they could not understand it ~ they had never seen anything like it. (She had been going blind from the pressure of the tumor in her skull) Her eye sight returned. We prayed for this child every school day for 3 full years, when she left our child care center to go on to the “big school.” We tried to minister God’s truth of His Word to the child’s father who would hear none of it. Once we no longer saw this child and could not lay hands on her daily, the tumor gradually got larger and larger. We KNOW that this proved the POWER of prayer and God’s involvement as a result of prayer. We shall be praying this same prayer for Kate and ask that her father, her covering, exercise HIS faith and pray in faith believing, nothing wavering, and “you shall have whatsoever you ask…” May God’s richest blessing by HIS WORD be with and remain with this entire family, in Jesus Name and may Kate walk long in the land of the living!
AMEN and AMEN ~~ So be it!

In the past two years our family has been throught it!My best friend/cousin was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and they said that it would take up to two years to regain her normal functioning.Within 2 months it was as if it had never happened.Next my 8yr old was diagnosed with epilepsy. It turned out though, that they were wrong about the type, and she’ll outgrow it by age 18.Next,my 22yr old was diagnosed with AML leukemia. She went through 7mths of aggressive chemo, and is in remission.
I won’t pretend that every person has a miraculous recovery, but I DO know that with God,all things are possible.I will pray for your dear little one.I know He will be with you every step of the way. Sherri Miller

Dear Kate,
Taylor
you probably won’t have time to read this but if you do then i have something to tell you and encourage your family. First i think it’s so amazing and awesome what you are doing, what a way to speak to people, we need more of that in the world. Next is that i KNOW God WILL heal you, for he is a merciful, powerful, giving God and he is honored that in all this you would just have faith and come to him. Jesus love you Kate, and your family. i for one was crying when i saw and read this story, believe God will heal you Kate, and then he will. so i pray now, and still will be praying: Lord Jesus we lift up Kate to you God she’s an wonderful person who wants to honor you, i pray for guidence, that you would show the doctors exactly what they need to do, that you would work with their hands. i also pray you comfort her and help her to just relax and have peace, your peace, Lord you are a God of miracles so Father we ask you now Jesus heal that girl, God we want a miracle there is not doubt that you CAN heal that child, your child, please God i ask in Jesus name.
Amen
Kate, you are healed!

I saw this on Dr. Phil today; I hope that she does beat the cancer. She is a lovely little girl.

I know I am a little late on this but, I will definitely pray for kate. Kate has the most beautiful blue eyes, beautiful blond hair, and she seems like a sweet little girl. I believe that there is, was, a miracle during the surgery. All Prayers for Kate

We were just sitting and thinking about her and continue to pray that you guys will find the strength to guide her thru this ordeal.
May God’s hand surround your entire family,
