DIY “ROCKER”?!? TEE

When I was in high school I was always destroying my clothes and finding a way to put them back together. This tutorial is something i did a lot of in those days. It is by no means a new thought or a mind blowing technique or anything… but the main appealing thing is its SUPER easy and all that you need is a tee shirt that fits you and a pair of scissors. THATS IT. Here it goes.

0. INGREDIENTS
T-shirt that fits you, & scissors. For this Rocker tee addition i chose a Star Wars tee from the little boys section at Goodwill. Star Wars….. Now thats pushing the edge. hhaha. jk

1. CUT OFF THE ARMS AND NECK
I drew a line on the neckline and also on the sleeves so i would make a clean even cut. then i just cut them off. Save the scraps.

2. SPLIT THE TEE DOWN THE MIDDLE
With your scissors cut a straight line from the top to the bottom.

3. SLICE LIKE BUTTON HOLES
With your scissors again, slice each side of the splitted tee with little tiny holes. Cut them closer together than button holes. They don’t have to be cut in a circle… they can just be little slices.

4. LACE TEE
Cut your left over scraps into strips and lace them through the holes. Start from the bottom of the tee and work up.

5. TIE KNOTS AS YOU GO
If you run out of fabric… tie more on as you go. The knots will naturally hide in the layers of fabric.

6. FINISH AT THE TOP
Once you have reached the top of the tee, tie a knot and let the rest hang loosely.

7. TAKE GOOFY PHOTOS

8. TIE SCRAPS ON SLEEVES
I still had left over scraps so i tied them onto the straps of the tank for a whimsical carefree look. I love layers and hang-y things.

9. ADD AN OUTFIT
Pair this “Rocker” tee with a not-so-rocker outfit. I didn’t want to over-do the whole “rocker” idea (aka star wars, haha) with a complete rocker get-up….so beads and a hair bow toned down the harsh look.

This outfit was styled in collaboration with my assistant, project manager, and fashion stylist friend, AVE Styles.

If you like this DIY and try it, post it on your blog and leave a comment in the comment section below with a link. I definitely want to see it. and I am sure the rest of you might want to see them too. Have fun. I trying to blog more… have you noticed?
