THRIFT STORES AND WEDDINGS?

treeblogblog
picksjpgblog

I am NO wedding decoration expert. But i think i found some fun stuff to mess around with. One of my favorite parts of planning the wedding is having the excuse on a regular basis to go to the infamous thrift store called Savers. I found some really unique pieces that will go great in my home soon too.

Let me tell you a little bit about whats going on here in these photos. The tree above is going to be our table centerpieces for the wedding. Our little guitar picks with our design will be hanging on the trees as decor and then serve as a wedding favor. In the real situation there will probably be candles around the centerpiece and all that. Everything else you see below in these photos is from Savers; everything except for the candle sticks. I bought those at Ikea. I found everything from old books, jewelry boxes, glass domes, vintage suitcases, to unique candle holders. I painted the frames white, gold, and brown and then sanded them for a rustic shabby chic look. The frames willl be placed flat on the table as a visual base for the centerpieces. With just a few weeks away from the wedding I had an organinzing and tweaking day. Time to get stuff ready to go to California. You likey?

WHY CHURCH? INTERVIEW WITH DESIGNER BARTON DAMER

bartonphoto11
bd09

I am so excited and honored to have had a featured interview with church design guru, Barton Damer. Barton definitely has a fresh spin on design and its culture. It is really refreshing for me to see such motivation and excellence being displayed in a church format. Like a lot of you, I have seen his work around in magazines and such but it wasn’t until we both got featured HERE that I really fell in love with his unique take on art. I featured a couple of his pieces in my inspiration post recently and then a few emails later… this interview came to surface. One of my big questions for Barton was WHY CHURCH? with all of that talent and grunge, why would he pick church as his format to express his art? Check out his thoughts on all of this below.

Kory Kredit - Awesome interview Promise! (Great artwork from Barton also) I love it when talented artists are able to explore and express their work within a Christ-centered environment. I think it helps paint a different picture – a more beautiful and spectacular picture – of God, and of His church to a secular world.

Cameron Smith - Great interview Promise and Barton. Thanks for your sharing your insight.

sean carter - you two are my heros!

Matt Troutman - Wow! very inspiring! Great interview, good work!

Scott - Barton did some work for me almost a year ago. This article is about design, but he’s a great guy, too. Did great work, under budget, and beat the deadline. Love this guy!!!

Not much to say today. « The Quarterdeck - [...]      How are you today? I wanted to share a cool interview with a cool artist that I read. Every day i check a number of blogs and web sited that have to do with art because there are many inspiring artists out there that you’d never get to see or hear about if it weren’t for the internet. One of them that I check out is the blog of  Promise Tangemen. This is the blog where I read the interview with Barton Damer. He is a great artist and a Christian and his interview with Promise really changed the way i think about a few things. You can check it out HERE.  [...]

mitch bolton - thanks for this. he said a lot of things i needed to hear.

Nicole Wolf - Ok, crazy that I stumbled on your Blog and then I found BART! He’s one of my hubby’s good friends and partners in crime in the art world. He and Brad worked together at http://www.frontline.to and are such an inspiration for artists to move towards work that is insightful, thought provoking and authentic!

Great job Bart, you are amazing! Brad misses you!

David Medina - Awesome! Very inspiring. We need more christians in the arts.
