YOURS TRULY NOMINATED FOR COLLIDE’S READERS CHOICE AWARDS 2009

picture-8 readers_choice_09_vote

Brian and I were out to dinner last night with Ryan and Lindsay Guard.. When Ryan leaned over and said “hey congrats on the nomination.” hhaa. and I was like… “for what?” He proceeded to tell me that Flowerdust.net did a blog post mentioning that her and I were the ONLY FEMALES represented in the nominations for Collide Magazine Readers Choice Awards for 2009. Flowerdust (Anne Jackson was nominated in the category of theology/ministry)

I was really humbled and honored to have been nominated under the Faith & Arts category. Because I am just writing what is on my heart and the projects that I am excited about. So even the fact that I was nominated is a real shock to me and I am quite grateful for that. Collide Magazine has a BIG heart and I am very thankful for them. They graciously featured the Art For Huruma Project numerous times to help get the word out. They are rock-stars. They have extremely interesting articles, great layout/design, and culture relevant content. Super RAD!

If you have been encouraged, inspired, or have enjoyed participating in the conversations on this blog, would you please take a minute to vote for my blog over at the readers choice awards? You can click on the banner above or go HERE to vote. Voting will remain open until Monday, December 14 at 9am CST. Winners will be announced in the January/February 2010 issue of COLLIDE.

I know this is kind of a weird request…but I would love to hear your thoughts about how this blog community has inspired/encouraged you in anyway… if any. What has been your favorite blog post here?

My favorite blog post what when you tackled the issue of arts in the church (see SoulCityChurch blog post). I couldn’t agree more! Christians should be on the forefront of aesthetics not mere imitators of pop culture.

PS I voted YESTERDAY. Maybe I’ll even have to vote again today ;) Hahaha!

Congrats! I definitely voted for you, I just love your blog its inspiring in so many ways. Just everything about it from projects your working on, the faith you have, the people you meet and hearing their stories, to the awesome things you find at thrift stores! haha. One of my favorite blogs was when you had an online art show that was really cool seeing art from everyone.

I voted for you! – I have to tell you that I follow 88 blogs through my blog feed. Everyday when i check for new blogs, I look to see if you have a new one first. I’ve only recently started reading your blog in the last 2 months, but you inspire me. Probably because you remind me so much of myself. I’ve always been creative, and I’m in a creative industry both at my normal day job and my co-owned business with my sister. BUGs Creative LLC. But also like to make my own art on the side by doing drawing, and random arts and crafts. I usually opt to make something myself before i buy it pre-made.
You inspire my sister and I to launch out full time with our side business. Its scary, but God can’t use us, if we don’t step out and faith. Maybe someday soon….

I’m a new reader here, so my favorite post was the one just a few days ago about the unique Christmas gifts. I’m not sure what the most encouraging thing has been for me… probably your FAQ page, just because I appreciated the honesty in the post.

    Thanks for continuing to post.

I don’t know how long I’ve been keeping up with your blog – but I’ll agree that it’s inspiring. Congrats on the nomination! You deserve to be on that list. You’re honest, humble, sincere, and inspiring.
What blesses me is getting a glimpse of the output of another female Christian creative.
Thanks for sharing your creative passion and pursuits with the rest of us.
    Blessings,

Hey Promise! I happened to stumble upon your blog after perusing other blogs as I was trying to find inspiration for starting my own blog. I was very excited to find yours! I am a worship pastors wife as well… we live in SoCal and originally coming from Nashville, my husband and I have such a love for “the arts.” I love how you have interwoven fashion, photography, and a passion for God. Keep up the good work!
