I am really excited to show you the branding that I have been working on for the lovely Ashley bugg Photography. How CUTE is her name first off?!?! Tell me that won’t stand out among the sea of other photographers. haha. She is a lover of all things vintage, modern, fresh, antique, crafty, creative, love, and family. Her husband is her second shooter and they are an amazing life capturing team. With three cute young kids their life is crazy with a full time photography business.

Ashley has become a great friend in the last year. We share a little esty shop together and she took those awesome photos of my dinosaur necklaces. haha SO FUN!

So, her vintage inspired branding package contains a logo, letterhead, business cards, thank you card, and a gift tag thingy for all her crafty photo products. I hope you enjoy!! Here is her website, definitely check it out. The new branding hasn’t transfered over yet… but I am sure you will be captivated by her photography.

DESIGNS FOR MATILDA JANE CLOTHING

blog1blog

I am really excited to share this project with you guys. Denise from Matilda Jane contacted me about sprucing up her brand for a more 2010 springy look. I have seen/heard about Matilda Jane clothing. Blog. So when i saw her name in my inbox i was STOKED to be able to work with a client whose products i really admire and relate to. Plus, i rarely see ADORABLE kids clothes around.

Matilda Jane is a funky little children’s clothing brand with lots of color, patterns, and quirk. I think i fit best with the quirk part. haha. I felt really drawn to this project and very much inspired to design for her. Below is her original logo that she sent me. Which i think is very cute. But to change it up for this season.. i presented a few options using her exsiting and VERY cute logo.

logo

I presented three different spring looks (the two not chosen are shown below). One with lots of layers, one with more of a colorful earthy feel, and the last one with a more text driven look.

combo

The look she chose is shown below. It was actually the first one that i designed. It’s good to know that my first instincts are correct. We added a few things from each look. Over all I really think it goes with her line nicely. We did 2 greeting cards, 2 stickers, 1 boys t-shirt design, 4 blog headers, and 1 website look. The website was already designed by a great designer… but we just added a few graphics around the site to freshen it up. The changes to the site are all still in process.. so be sure to check back from time to time to see whats going on.

SIMPLE THOUGHTS ON RE-BRANDING YOUR BUSINESS FOR 2010

WARNING: This is my very first post EVER without images, pictures, or photos. Just my thoughts. These thoughts are only my opinion. I am not the queen of branding nor do i claim to be the best at anything. But i think this may help some of you. this is going to be a random rant… so spelling and grammar will be terrible.

In the past couple of months i have received an OVERWHELMING amount of emails regarding a re-brand for their photography/home business. That is great.. right? Well except most of these photographers, or business owners HAVE AMAZING BRANDING ALREADY. Dont get me wrong, i want to make money too. haha. But i am also an artist, and as a peer I want to help you out.

It has got me to thinking… WHY? What is the motive for a rebrand? I mean seriously… some of these photographers have beautiful, tight, cohesive, strong branding and they dont feel like it’s good enough.  Why is that? Is it because they see one successful photographer or business owner and they think that if their branding looks like theirs that it will be successful?  Well, if so…That is not true..and they have started comparing too much.

Think back to what branding really is and why we have it. Your branding should do a couple simple things. It should:

AN INTERESTING LOGO & BRANDING PROCESS

Jeremy Greene and I have been talking for sometime now. The conversation to rebrand his company SPEKTICAL started back before the wedding.. before the wedding craze. haha. I was really excited to get the chance to work with him and his Rad self. Jeremy has a photography and video post production business. he takes some pretty awesome photographs. I decided to share this logo making process.. because it was an interesting one. Starting from the spelling of his business name, the unique letter shapes, the meaning behind the name, the nature of his business, and unexpected element of the final product accidently looking like another well known logo. Everytime i post something like this i hesitate. How much info do you share with people? Is this interesting enough to share? Is this letting the internet people too close? I dont know. I find that honesty and business are interesting. Even if it’s risky or not, I would love to share this process with you. I hope you can appreciate it for what it is. Logo making is an art, an art that can be refined, and never finished. OH the work of an artist. haha. YEEAAA… ahha. So I want to start with giving you a little background of Jeremy and his Biz.

JOHN DEBNEY PRESENTATION UPDATE

cddesigncoverblog
jdphoto4blog

A few weeks ago I flew out to Burbank to give a presentation of the designs i came up with to John Debney and his lovely crew. I just wanted to share them with you. I am displaying my favorite two out of six options i had. I printed all the designs out on 11x17in white paper for them to sift through and see the actual size. I then printed out and put my favorite design comp on black presentation board so they would stay in place nicely as i explained the process and my reasons for choosing what i did. I then put the design together for them to look at. I actually handmade the cd covers, cd discs, business cards, double-sided stationary, and envelopes. Its great to get a good idea of what the product would look like finished, ya know? what do you think? can you guess which design they chose? They loved the presentation and the designs.
