CREATIVE CLUTTERY PACK-RAT RAMBLINGS

GOOD MORNING!!!! Since I have been back from tour I have been inspired and researching ways to revamp our home. And it’s been SOOO fun browsing around pinterest for fun ideas. And I know there are tons of amazing shops, stores, boutiques and resources online for your home. When we walked in from being gone for a whole month, I felt like we lived in a creative cluttery mess. AND ITS TIME TO WEED OUT AND GET RID OF STUFF. I think I am kind of a pack rat sometimes. I always think: “That it will come in handy someday”… or “surely I will wear that again”, or even “I can make something RAD with this”….But I usually never do.

Anyway, I think I am stuck on paint colors right now. We really need to repaint…. But I am not sure which direction to go. I love the shades of gray. But those can really be messed up too, like look light blue on accident. I am looking for a mix between funky, yet re-sellable. I can’t imagine I can find something that works for both of those. Thoughts?

Here is a link to my home inspiration pinboard on Pinterest

Any cool decal, wallpaper, or paint companies you know of?

INSPIRATION THROUGH PRINT

Within in the past few months I have been really inspired by patterns, prints, and color in home design print magazines. There is something so fresh about being able to flip through the pages, to feel, and look through the design layout. I search for a lot of things online… But I just love the relaxing feel of browsing through a magazine over coffee or an airplane ride.

We are getting ready to leave Rome and head home. Vacationing, sightseeing, and shopping is really fun… but there is nothing better than home. Do you agree? I am piling up all my good reads and fun magazine inspiration before tomorrow when we leave.

Lately I have been completely entertained and inspired by Vogue Home. There is a level of funky fashion, shock factor, and random/odd placement of fun furniture. This magazine has rocked my socks off. I pulled some of my favorite spreads from this particular issue.

What are some RAD print Magazine that you have been into lately? I always love to check out new stuff. So link or post your own photos to show here in the comment section.

AN EMBARRASSING CONFESSION!! what’s your favorite restaurant?

Today when I opened up my personal email account I saw a HUGE bright Red Robin mass email advertisement. haha. I see them every so often in my email and I just don’t have the guts to unsubscribe. haha. It’s sad I know. And it’s sooo torturous. Red Robin corporate send those emails out when they know Promise Tangeman is at her weakest point. BECAUSE SHE LOVES RED ROBIN.

I know it’s really dorky to say that Red Robin is my favorite restaurant, but it is!! IT’S TRUE!! The cat is out of that bag. Whenever that question comes around.. like “where do you all like to eat?” Everyone else has these really posh restaurant names that probably serve gourmet something somethin and have really shiny spoons or menu items that I can’t even pronounce. But I LOVE Red Robin.

Cant go wrong with a etch-a-sketch contest. IM IN!!

I love the bright colors and the random clitter on the walls. I think my love for Red Robin comes partly from the memories behind it. It was one of that “main” restaurants in my home down, and I would pick to go there for every birthday celebration. haha. There is something really comforting and familiar about it. PLUS they have scrumptious fries. Next time you go there get the poppy seed salad dressing to dip your fries in. AND order the Ragin Cajun chicken burger. ITS THE BEST and it’s not on the menu, you have to ask specifically for it.

So that being said… what is YOUR favorite restaurant and WHY? I like funny stories too… if you have any.

FREAKIN RAD HOME INSPIRATION

So the story goes that Brian and I are organizing our lives, our home, our office, and re-defining our lifestyle. hha okay I might not go that far… but I have been researching home and office organization a lot in the past few days. I have narrowed it down to some pretty RAD home designs that I want to show you. So basically you are pretty lucky because I spent hours doing this and you get to see the outcome of it. haha. jk. I hope you find this as inspiring as I do. Most of these images come from Apartment Therapy and are REAL homes. But those 4 RAD art desks come from pottery barn. AHH I think they are amazing. I hope you enjoy these OFF THE CHAIN homes. Link here in the comment section with more inspiring links, thoughts, or comments. See you soon. LOVE YOU!!

Because I am a new homemaker it’s taken me a little time figuring out what would work for Brian and I. It’s really fun to have a husband that wants to have a say in some of the decisions like this. I have discovered that brian and I love artistic homes with personal touches, limited clutter, big furniture pieces, COMFORT, and function. I LOVE design that not only looks pretty but that has a strong dynamic function as well.

THE EASIEST DIY PROJECT EVER!! fabric wall art

img_8614editblog

This project actually happened on accident. I originally bought this black frame at ikea. They have them pretty cheap there. I brought it home to frame another project.. Anyway, that didn’t end up working out and the frame didnt come with glass. I was going to take it back until i saw a pile off fabric in my craft area waiting to be cleaned up. So this is what i came up with at last minute. I am sure this must have been done before. It just must have.. its soo easy. ITS SUPER EASY!!! Any sloppy bumbler could do it.

Find some fun fabric that you love. Either from your giveaway clothes pile, or even some you bought at a farbic store. I also used yarn to add a bit of rustic detail. Cut the fabric into strips… whatever size. They don’t have to have finished edges or anything.. It can be cut really sloppy. I actually think that “look” works for this. I obviously didn’t consider what fabric to pair together, haha. I didn’t really care. I just used what I had around the house.
