Because summer is approaching and practically here, I wanted to share with you some of my summer thrift store favorites. I have many more to show you, but I will start with these two outfits. I also put together a little list of tips that I made up and use regularly when I am shopping for a good bargain. I feel like these tips just help keep me on track, because sometimes I get distracted, or maybe i cant really tell if it’s a good deal or not. Let me know if these help, or if you end up trying them. Or even better… Do you have any tips or guidelines when thrift store shop?
PROMISE’S THRIFT STORE TIPS:
1. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Only buy when you absolutely love it.
2. GET PERSPECTIVE. Visualize the piece of clothing out of its context. Would you like it if it was from Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie?? If no, then skip it.
3. PRICE CHECK IT. If you can’t decide how much you love it, say how much you would pay for it (before looking at the price), then look at the price. If its over what you said… then skip it.
4. LOOK OUT FOR FAKERS. Just because the piece looks better then the REST of the clothes THERE, doesn’t mean you need to take it home. Because, it might end up being the WORST piece in your closet, and then you may never wear it.
5. NOTICE THE DETAILS. Never forget to stop by the shoes, jewelry, glasses, ties, scarves, belts. You might find a gem. It’s really easy to skip over these sections, but there are TONS of good stuff.

It has been soo long since I have done a Savers post. wow. Well, I have been at Savers a lot lately… So I thought I would share some of my favorite fashion finds as of lately. haah I bet some of you are going to laugh at me because I am probably breaking some kind of fashion rule with every outfit. But o well. In each picture I display one item that I found at Savers (thrift store). So, It’s not the whole outfit. haha. Although that would be AWESOME!! Maybe I will have to do that sometime soon. very fun. I listed the prices I paid in the little circle for you.
What do you think? Please link to any fun thrift store items that you have found in the last few months… I would LOVE to see. Gosh.. I would seriously LOVE to work as a hunter for fun items and then sell them in my own store somewhere. Or at least get paid to go out shopping for these things. I could do it all day and all night long.

I am soo excited to finally show you this. I have been working on it the last few weeks… and it has been soo easy and fun. Luckily there wasnt too much work that needed to be done on it. It was already in great shape. Haha I think a lot of you will disagree with the decisions that I made. But I think the final product is REALLY fun. The best part is.. I can change it up later if I want a different look. I first want to say though that I am no expert at this and by sharing this with you does not mean that I think I am. hahha. I just love creating stuff. I actually didn’t know AT ALL what I was doing. I was just doing it.
If you have been following me on twitter through this project you would probably already know that I found this china cabinet at Savers (thirft store) for only $80. It was originally $150. I saw it, I loved it, so I talked about it for a few days, and even called everyday to make sure it was still there. Haha. Brian and I rented a trailer thing in order to go get it. It was a sign that it was suppose to be ours because it hadn’t gone anywhere for a week.

dress $4.99, bracelets $.99-$1.99 each
A WORD FROM THE VERY EXPERIENCED SAVERS SHOPPER
1. Only buy what you LOVE
2. Always talk shop with the old ladies in there, they love it
3. Look twice, you probably missed it the first time
4. Dont put your fingers in your mouth, eyes, or nose when you are in there.
5. Only look in a certain section at a time, pretty overwhelming
6. Know what you are looking for before you go in
7. Wash your hands and your clothes that you bought.
8. Look at things out of context
9. Always look for the half off colored tags.
10.Umm.. wash your hands? dont sit on the toilet seats
ANYONE HAVE ANY FUNNY STORIES?

vintage jewelry box $3
OKAY. HOW cool is this stuff. What???? Savers is the best. I want to work there. This stuff is so rad. There is NOTHING I enjoy better than finding gems FOR SUCH A GOOD DEAL. WHAT! WHAT!. I took Brian to the airport the other day and on the way back SAVERS was calling my name. I am going to make more frequent stops there because I have the wedding as an excuse. I need to find decor and such.. you know. hahaa. Anyway, I told myself I was only going to look in the glass jar section. and OOPS. I guess the “glass jar” section was the whole store yesterday. Well it was SUCH a good day. I was on cloud nine with excitement. Especially the chairs and the trunks for only $2.50 EACH. That is insane. I hope i dont turn into that old lady that collects tons of junk. You know her? It was senior day, So there were tons of old people. There was a lady in the checkout line that asked me where I got those dome things…. She said I should put dolls under them. “There great for dolls”, she says. HAHAHA!!

I havent done a thrift store post in forever. Usually it’s vintage or thrift clothes that I find.. but now that I am thinking about a wedding and a house it’s changing a little. There is something about finding a diamond in the rough that i LOVE. I absolutely LOVE finding a hidden treasure that someone doesnt want anymore, changing it up, and making it work. Gosh there is nothing better. I think it must be the artist in me that loves that PROCESS.
I went to Savers and found some real treasures i think. We are going to use the jars and fill them with candles for our wedding reception. I am going to get a ton more. Let me know if you have any that I can borrow. I am on the prowl for glass jars. haha. the suit case was awesome for 5 bucks and the vintage poster will fit perfectly in our house. I am so excited. P.s its funny that my shoes match the colors today. hahah.
